  1. Change Your Word and Excel Default Open Document Location

    When working in any Microsoft Office applications, do you find yourself opening the same folder and same documents on a daily basis. Are you constantly updating that same Excel worksheet. When searching for Word, Excel, or Power Point documents, using the File Open feature, you can go directly to the folder where your documents reside rather than navigate multiple subdirectories starting with your My Documents folder. This quick tip is to help you save time and get there quicker.

  • Changing MS Word, Excel, Power Point Default Open Document Location
  • Toolbar – Tools
  • "Options"
  • "File Locations"
  • Highlight – "Documents"
  • "Modify"
  • Select the folder you would like for your default location
  • Click OK

Now every time you try and open a file you will be directed to the path you entered in rather than the default path. It may not seem like much but if you are opening and closing a lot of files this can really be a time saver.
